Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. Bishop Ireton Cardinals

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Archbishop Carroll Lions take on the Bishop Ireton Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday... Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Archbishop Carroll is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Bishop McNamara, who was ranked 19th in their home state at the time (Archbishop Carroll was ranked 18th). Archbishop Carroll fell 73-62 to Bishop McNamara on Sunday. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Meanwhile, Bishop Ireton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Sunday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 68-49 bruising from Paul VI. The Cardinals were down 55-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Archbishop Carroll's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Bishop Ireton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Things could have been worse for Archbishop Carroll, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 70-53 loss to Bishop Ireton in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Archbishop Carroll avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
