Volleyball Recap: Bloomfield Cardinals vs. Orleans Bulldogs

Bloomfield unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Orleans Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Bloomfield was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Orleans work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-27, 25-20, 16-25, 15-10.

Meredith Lantis had an outrageously good game for Orleans as she had 26 digs and two aces. Lantis has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last 12 times she's played. Emma Rutherford was another key player, getting 20 assists and seven digs.

Bloomfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 loss against North Daviess on the 21st. As for Orleans, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Clarksville on the 18th.
