Recap: Tunica Academy Blue Devils vs. DeSoto Thunderbirds
This season hasn't been kind to the Tunica Academy Blue Devils, who are still winless after their sixth match. They took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of DeSoto. While losing is never fun, Tunica Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 245th in Mississippi, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 99th in Arkansas).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead DeSoto to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carsyn Gore, who scored 17 points along with six steals and five assists. Gore is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Reynolds, who scored ten points along with eight steals.
Tunica Academy dropped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.4 points per game. As for DeSoto, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 21-4.
Tunica Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. DeSoto also has no future games currently scheduled.
