Football Recap: Fort Worth THESA Riders vs. Temple Christian Eagles
Fort Worth THESA gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Temple Christian Eagles 60-6.
Fort Worth THESA had a senior duo take command as Lawson Grubbs rushed for 58 yards and a pair of scores and Caleb Bright rushed for 26 yards and two touchdowns. Grubbs also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles and defending one pass. Zack Mattix made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Fort Worth THESA, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Kaiden Klausner, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Coming up, Fort Worth THESA will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Newman International Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Riders' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Temple Christian, they will be playing at home against Victory Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
