Basketball Game Preview: Paw Paw Pirates vs. Bishop Walsh Spartans

Paw Paw hasn't had much luck against Bishop Walsh recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Paw Paw Pirates will face off against the Bishop Walsh Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Wednesday, Paw Paw took a blow against Turkeyfoot Valley Area, falling 63-35. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Pirates came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 74th in West Virginia, while the Rams are ranked 343rd in Pennsylvania).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Pricilla Corbin, who posted 12 points. Another player making a difference was Shayla Tanouye, who earned 13 points.

Meanwhile, Bishop Walsh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Mountain Ridge and fell 65-25.

Bishop Walsh's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Paw Paw, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.

Paw Paw was taken down by Bishop Walsh 63-26 when the teams last played back in February of 2019. Can Paw Paw avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
