Softball Recap: Archbishop Ryan Takes a Loss

Archbishop Ryan extended their losing streak to six on Monday, dropping them down to 1-6. They lost 21-0 to the Archbishop Wood Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Raiders of the 4-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Archbishop Wood, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. The matchup marked their most dominant victory of the season.

For Archbishop Wood's part, Jackie Cobb made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Cobb has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zoey Whalen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2025. Ellie Walicki was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs.

Coincidentally, Archbishop Ryan and Archbishop Wood will both be playing Archbishop Carroll the next time they take the field. The Vikings will host the Patriots at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, while the Raiders will host them at 6:00 p.m. on the 21st.
