Basketball Recap: Shaktoolik Starts off Right with Win over Cook Inlet Academy

Shaktoolik had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They came out on top against the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles by a score of 72-65. For the Wolverines, this counts as revenge for the 61-50 win the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shaktoolik to victory, but perhaps none more so than Seth Paniptchuk, who posted 33 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Evan, who scored 20 points.

Cook Inlet Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ian McGarry, who put up 26 points. McGarry's afternoon made it 18 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Zach Armstrong was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Shaktoolik wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 54-43 victory against Birchwood Christian on the 20th. As for Cook Inlet Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-47 loss against Ninilchik on the 20th.
