Basketball Recap: Onteora Takes a Loss

Onteora fought the good fight in their overtime game against Roosevelt on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 73-69 to the Presidents. The Eagles have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Despite the defeat, Onteora saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jameer Maize shot 60% from the field en route to 22 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for Maize. The team also got some help courtesy of Luc Millenson-Wilens, who posted 15 points.

Onteora's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Roosevelt, the win snapped their losing streak at eight games and leaves them with a 3-14 record.

Coming up, Onteora will face off against Chester at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Roosevelt does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
