Baseball Game Preview: Slippery Rock Rockets vs. Fairview Tigers

The Slippery Rock Rockets will head out to face off against the Fairview Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Slippery Rock will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Slippery Rock and Conneaut Area, and Slippery Rock kept the tradition alive. The Rockets walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Eagles on Saturday.

Slippery Rock let Connor Zorn and Parker Dalcamo run wild. Zorn went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Dalcamo went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Dalcamo a new career-high. Isaac McCandless also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Fairview entered their tilt with North East on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Grape Pickers by a score of 7-4.

Tyler Benford made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andrew Stevens, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
