Softball Recap: Pascack Hills Cowboys vs. Westwood Cardinals

Pascack Hills took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Westwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cowboys had just enough and edged out the Cardinals 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cowboys have posted since April 8th.

Nina Tuli made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emilia Alvarez was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle Siegenthaler, who went 3-for-5 with three runs.

The win made it two in a row for Pascack Hills and bumps their season record up to 7-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Westwood, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6-1.
