Basketball Recap: Wakefield Takes a Loss

Wakefield came up into this matchup off a tough 26-point defeat on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Rolesville Rams by a score of 69-67 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolverines have suffered since December 30, 2023.

Despite the loss, Wakefield still got an impressive performance from Ethan Wisler, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 27 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Wisler a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Bir, who posted 12 points.

Even though they lost, Wakefield was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rolesville only racked up seven assists.

Rolesville was led to victory by Anthony Roberts, Jr and Brody Watkins. Roberts, Jr almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, while Watkins put up 14 points. The game was Roberts, Jr's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Cannon Marshall was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Wakefield is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10. As for Rolesville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rolesville beat Wakefield by a score of 59-49 on Friday.
