Baseball Recap: Grove City Comes Up Short

Grove City came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Hickory Hornets, falling 9-2. Eagles fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Hornets since on Thursday.

Grove City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Renick, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Grove City now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Hickory, they pushed their record up to 2-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grove City will take on Harbor Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games the Huskies have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Hickory, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Titusville at 4:00 p.m. The Rockets will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight.
