Volleyball Recap: Milan Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Milan took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against South Ripley, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians won by a set and slipped past the Raiders 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Milan had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-13.

Makenleigh Baylor was nothing short of spectacular: she had 22 digs and three assists. That's the most assists she has posted over her last six matchups.

Milan was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in three consecutive matches.

South Ripley's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaiya Rinear, who had 16 digs, six kills, and two aces. Kaylie Effing was another key player, getting 18 digs and two aces.

Milan's victory bumped their record up to 15-9. As for South Ripley, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-11.

Milan didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Lawrenceburg on the 30th. As for South Ripley, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against South Dearborn on the 30th.
