Basketball Preview: Fairport Red Raiders vs. Irondequoit Eagles
The Fairport Red Raiders will head out on the road to square off against the Irondequoit Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Fairport's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight contests.
Last Monday, Fairport was able to grind out a solid victory over the Knights, taking the game 57-46. Given Fairport's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Knights are ranked 305th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Irondequoit made easy work of the Spartans on Friday and carried off a 70-46 victory.
Fairport's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Irondequoit, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.
Fairport might still be hurting after the 57-36 defeat they got from the Eagles in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Fairport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
