Soccer Game Preview: Liberty vs. Jasper

The Liberty Panthers will take on the Jasper Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Liberty's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

It was a proper cat-fight when Liberty took on Livingston last Monday. Liberty fell just short of Livingston by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jasper). They put the hurt on Vidor with a sharp 9-2 victory on Friday. With the Bulldogs ahead 5-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Their offense was hitting Vidor from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Alejandro Zamarron led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by himself.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7-1. As for Jasper, their win bumped their record up to 14-7-1.

Liberty beat Jasper by a goal in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Liberty since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
