Football Recap: Jonesboro Takes a Loss

Jonesboro dropped to 2-3 on Friday, ending the team's six-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 54-8 loss at the hands of the Aquilla Cougars. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2019.

As for Aquilla, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Andrew Snipes was his usual excellent self, rushing for 65 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries.

Coming up, Jonesboro will head out to square off against Austin Royals HomeSchool at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Royals have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Aquilla, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bynum at 7:30 p.m. The Cougars will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 49.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
