Basketball Game Preview: Palmetto Panthers vs. Homestead Broncos

Palmetto is 8-2 against Homestead since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Palmetto Panthers will host the Homestead Broncos at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Palmetto has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Homestead will arrive with three straight victories.

Last Tuesday, Palmetto was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 59-53 to Central. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Palmetto might have lost, but man, Santiago Henriquez was a machine: he went 9 for 21 en route to 22 points and seven assists. The contest was Henriquez's 23rd in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rafael Diaz, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.

South Dade typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Homestead proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Buccaneers by a score of 61-52.

Homestead has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Palmetto, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Everything came up roses for Palmetto against Homestead in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 102-61 win. Does Palmetto have another victory up their sleeve, or will Homestead turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
