Soccer Recap: Mt. Vernon's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Greenville, Mt. Vernon was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They never let the Vienna/Goreville Eagles get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 last Monday.

Mt. Vernon's one-goal win came courtesy of Lauren Mattmiller, which was the first she's scored this season.

Mt. Vernon's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. As for Vienna/Goreville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coming up, Mt. Vernon will head out to square off against Salem at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Salem will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Mt. Vernon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Vienna/Goreville, they will square off against DuQuoin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Vienna/Goreville are facing DuQuoin at the right time seeing as DuQuoin are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
