Basketball Recap: BASIS Phoenix Comes Up Short

BASIS Phoenix was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They took a blow against the Arete Prep CHARGERS, falling 77-24. The Firebirds lost against the CHARGERS in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 53-34 score last time.

Arete Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Crew Oetjen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance also gave Oetjen a new career-high in assists (six). Harrison Kremer was another key player, going 6 of 9 on his way to 15 points and five steals.

BASIS Phoenix's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Arete Prep, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-12.

BASIS Phoenix does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Arete Prep, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-45 loss against Miami on the 6th.
