Baseball Game Preview: Hannibal Warriors vs. Central Rebels

Hannibal is a perfect 8-0 against Central since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Rebels at 4:30 p.m. Central took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Hannibal, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Hannibal earned a 5-1 win over Port Byron.

Alex Miller was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Miller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Martin VanBuren was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Earl Hofmann, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Central fell victim to Weedsport and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors.

Hannibal now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything went Hannibal's way against Central when the teams last played back in May of 2021, as Hannibal made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
