Baseball Recap: Itasca Beats Blum for Their Third Straight Win

Itasca had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Blum Bobcats with a sharp 13-3 win. Considering the Wampus Cats have won 14 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Aydan Villarreal was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Jacob Gurrusquieta was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brayden Daniel, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Itasca's victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Blum, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Itasca will welcome Venus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blum, they will be playing at home against Covington at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
