Basketball Recap: Raymondville Takes a Loss

Raymondville and West Oso squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Raymondville had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 96-25 loss at the hands of the West Oso Bears. While losing is never fun, the Bearkats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1203rd, while the Bears are ranked 231st).

When it comes to explaining why Raymondville lost, don't look at Adaleigh Knight. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 64% of Raymondville's points, marking the 21st time in a row Knight has posted more than a third of the team's points.

It was another big night for Milauni Williams, who dropped a triple-double with 29 points, 18 boards, and ten steals for West Oso. Williams continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Malaigha sweats, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Raymondville's defeat dropped their record down to 16-14. As for West Oso, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 17 of their last 18 games, which provided a nice bump to their 29-5 record this season.

Raymondville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Oso, they will square off against Columbus at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Columbus comes in on three and West Oso on 14.
