The Potlatch Loggers will head out to square off against the Troy Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Potlatch is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
Last Saturday, Potlatch made easy work of Genesee and carried off a 16-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Loggers, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Logan Carpenter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jay Marshall, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Mason Woolverton also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Troy posted their closest victory since April 23, 2024 on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Kendrick 4-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won four games in a row.
Dominic Holden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 15 Ks.
On the hitting side, Makhi Durrett was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Payton Christensen, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Potlatch's record is now 7-1. As for Troy, their record now sits at 5-2.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Potlatch has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Troy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Potlatch skirted past Troy 4-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Loggers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
