Baseball Game Preview: Huron Chiefs vs. Grosse Ile Red Devils

Huron is 9-1 against Grosse Ile since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Chiefs will challenge the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Huron has 13 straight victories, Grosse Ile has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Huron came out on top against Anderson on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Chiefs had just enough and edged out the Titans 7-5.

Dominic Russo looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Myles Grace, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Banas, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Flat Rock hit Grosse Ile with a five-run fifth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Red Devils lost 11-1 to the Rams.

Grosse Ile saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Korczyk, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Grosse Ile's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Huron, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-0.

Huron took their victory against Grosse Ile in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chiefs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
