Homestead and Monarch squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Homestead had to settle for second. They fell 28-21 to the Monarch Knights.

A big part of Monarch's victory came down to the chemistry between Florentino Lopez and his top target Samari Reed. Lopez rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry while Reed gained 161 total yards and two touchdowns. Reed also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making two total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception. Antwaun Parham also helped out with an impressive 88 receiving yards.

Homestead now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Monarch, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.

Homestead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Monarch, they will face off against Southridge at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Southridge's defense has only allowed 9.4 points per game this season, so Monarch's offense will have their work cut out for them.
