Softball Recap: Sheldon's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Sheldon won the last time they faced South Eugene and things went their way on Friday too. The Irish blew past the Axe 11-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Irish, who have now won four contests in a row.

Soraya Dorsey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sasha Fendrich and Lillian Geddis did most of the damage at the plate: Fendrich went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Geddis got on base in two of her five plate appearances with three runs. Those two hits gave Fendrich a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Braelyn Stone, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Sheldon pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for South Eugene, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-19.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sheldon beat the Axe by a score of 10-0 later that day.
