Softball Recap: Key West Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

Key West and Gulf Coast pushed the score to 18-1 the last time they played Gulf Coast, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Conchs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Sharks a 1-0 shutout. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Conchs have posted since May 13, 2025.

Not much got past Brianna Brenner, who gave up just four hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Gulf Coast off the board. Those 16 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Brenner.

The victory made it two in a row for Key West and bumps their season record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Gulf Coast, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 9-1.

Key West will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sharks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
