Basketball Recap: Rosemont Takes a Loss

Rosemont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 67-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Argonaut Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-57 back in January.

Loss or not, Rosemont got some senior leadership from Ja'Monte Cole and Connor Irion. Cole posted 12 points in addition to five boards and four steals, while Irion earned nine points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Rosemont is 3-1 when Irion posts three or more steals, but 9-12 otherwise. Xavior Scruggs was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.

Argonaut was led to victory by Mitchell Mcmahan and JJ Lungren. Mcmahan dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 boards, while Lungren went 7-for-16 to rack up 21 points. What's more, Mcmahan also posted three blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zander Castro, who had seven points and four steals.

Rosemont now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Argonaut, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Rosemont has already played their next contest, a 73-55 defeat against Bradshaw Christian on the 13th. As for Argonaut, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 86-63 win against Amador on the 13th.
