Baseball Recap: McConnellsburg Takes a Loss

After flying high against North Star last Tuesday, McConnellsburg came back down to earth. McConnellsburg fell just short of the Windber Ramblers by a score of 6-5 on Thursday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ramblers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Shafer Earley and Tucker Hedge stepped up to the plate in a big way. Earley went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Hedge scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Gavin DeShong, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

McConnellsburg now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Windber, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, McConnellsburg will venture away from home to challenge Grace Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Windber, they will host Conemaugh Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Conemaugh Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Windber's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
