Lake Braddock took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Fairfax Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bruins have posted since September 10, 2024.

Lake Braddock wouldn't go down easily and took Fairfax into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-13, 21-25, 21-25, 17-15.

Leading Lake Braddock to victory were Micki Millsaps and Yana Jensen. Millsaps had six digs and three aces, while Jensen had 18 digs and six assists. That's the most digs Millsaps has posted since back in September of 2024.

They weren't the only good server: Lake Braddock was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Coming up, Lake Braddock will square off against Westfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairfax, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Annandale on the 27th.
