            Softball Recap: Newmarket Mules vs. Franklin Tornadoes        
        
		
        
        
            On Friday Newmarket's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single  run of losing the streak, but they secured  a   3-2 W against the Franklin Tornadoes. Those three runs were actually the fewest the Mules have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
 Emma Surina was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. She  pitched three innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   three  hits. Surina was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases and two  runs. Those  stolen bases marked the first that  she has  snagged this season.
 Surina wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Lily Thompson, who  went 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases and one  RBI.

Newmarket's win was  their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 5-0. The  home  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
 Coincidentally, Newmarket and Franklin will both be playing Mascenic Regional the next time they take the field. The Mules will head out to face the Vikings at 4:00  p.m.  on Monday, while the Tornadoes will  host them  at 4:00  p.m.  on May 5.
