Softball Recap: Louis E. Dieruff Huskies vs. Parkland Trojans
Louis E. Dieruff extended their losing streak to seven on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-13 in the process. They came up short against the Parkland Trojans, falling 13-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 last Monday.
As for Parkland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. Considering they have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
For Parkland's part, the team relied heavily on Amelia Dawson, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. That double marked the first that Dawson has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Scerena Reed, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Louis E. Dieruff will challenge rival Pocono Mountain West at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Parkland is set to take on their familiar foe Emmaus at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 4.1, the Hornets 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
