Basketball Game Preview: Belfry Pirates vs. Barbourville Tigers

The Belfry Pirates and the Barbourville Tigers will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Belfry knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Barbourville likes a good challenge.

Belfry saw some tournament action on Saturday. They managed a 69-64 victory over Jackson County.

Belfry's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Hagy, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 13 points and three steals. That's the most steals Hagy has posted since back in February. Jaxon Estridge was another key player, going 7 of 17 on his way to 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Barbourville strolled past East Ridge with points to spare on Sunday, taking the game 68-52.

The victory got Barbourville back to even at 3-3. As for Belfry, their win bumped their record up to 4-5.
