Basketball Game Preview: Starmont Stars vs. Springville Orioles

Starmont hasn't had much luck against Springville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Starmont Stars will head out on the road to face off against the Springville Orioles at 7:00 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Starmont was beaten by Alburnett 72-40. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Pirates are ranked 65th).

Meanwhile, Springville suffered their closest defeat since December 20, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Maquoketa Valley by a score of 45-43. The game marked the Orioles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Springville's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5. As for Starmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.

Starmont suffered a grim 72-46 defeat to Springville in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Starmont avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
