Basketball Recap: North Caroline Takes a Loss

North Caroline and Parkside squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but North Caroline had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 49-19 loss at the hands of the Parkside Rams. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Rams are ranked 51st).

When it comes to explaining why North Caroline lost, don't look at Jasiyah Henry. Despite the final result, she posted eight points.

Parkside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ziyon Smith out in front who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Zion Oge, who earned 11 points.

North Caroline has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-17 record this season. Parkside is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

North Caroline does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Parkside, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 41-40 victory against Queen Anne's County on the 3rd.
