Basketball Recap: Jeremiah Cooper's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Lake over Calvary Christian

East Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 71-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Calvary Christian Warriors. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in December of 2023.

East Lake lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jeremiah Cooper, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc on his way to 28 points. The match was Cooper's third in a row with at least ten points. Andre Willis was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 18 points.

Calvary Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ethan Sabec led the charge by putting up 23 points. That's the most points Sabec has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Bergantino, who posted 19 points.

East Lake's loss dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Calvary Christian, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

East Lake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 71-54 victory against Dunedin on the 7th. As for Calvary Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-52 win against Shorecrest Prep on the 7th.
