Basketball Recap: Rooted School Triumphs

The Rooted School Royals were able to grind out a solid victory over the International Gryphons on Monday, taking the game 64-54. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Royals.

Corey Coleman was nothing short of spectacular: he shot 46% from the field en route to 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Those 18 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rahmon Durham, who posted ten points.

International lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Michael Kreutz, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ma 'Eric' Yilin, who put up seven points.

Rooted School now has a winning record of 2-1. As for International, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Rooted School won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against GEO Next Generation at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Royals will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 67.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for International, they will head out to take on Indiana School for the Deaf at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
