Recap: Academy for Innovative Education Aviators vs. Cristo Rey Monarchs
The Academy for Innovative Education Aviators waltzed into their matchup Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 31-24 victory over Cristo Rey. That's another feather in the cap for Academy for Innovative Education, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Alexa Garofalo was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on nine points, 24 rebounds, and nine steals. Those 24 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Samantha Ayerdis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 15 rebounds and six steals.
Academy for Innovative Education's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. As for Cristo Rey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Academy for Innovative Education won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Somerset College Prepartory Academy South at 4:00 p.m. on December 19th. Cristo Rey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
