Softball Recap: Canton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hamilton/Warsaw on Saturday, Canton came back down to earth. The Little Giants fell just short of the Pekin Dragons by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Canton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pekin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Canton is set to challenge their familiar foe Washington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Little Giants 3.7, the Panthers 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pekin will square off against rival Limestone at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
