The Porter Cowboys are taking a road trip to challenge the Pace Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Porter barely beat Rivera the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cowboys were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Raiders on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cowboys.
Mia Sosa was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Sosa was also big at the plate, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Gabby Sosa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Krystal Paredes also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Porter lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Pace and Donna had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Vikings put the hurt on the Redskins with a sharp 21-1 win on Friday. The Vikings' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
The team relied heavily on Valeria Alvarado, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Megan Mares, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Porter's record now sits at 10-6. As for Pace, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-10.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Porter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Pace struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Porter couldn't quite finish off Pace when the teams last played back in March and fell 3-1. Can the Cowboys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
