Basketball Recap: Hemingway Tigers vs. Scott's Branch Eagles

The Hemingway Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 55-47 to Scott's Branch. Hemingway has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jerel Hampton, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Hampton also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Omarion Burgess was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hemingway were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their 14th loss (out of 16 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Scott's Branch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nyren Bowman out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Kind, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Hemingway has not been sharp recently as the team's lost 12 of their last 13 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-19 record this season. As for Scott's Branch, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.

Hemingway will head out on the road to take on the Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Carvers Bay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Wednesday. As for Scott's Branch, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Flashes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnsonville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 177 points over their last three games.
