Basketball Recap: Freire Charter Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Freire Charter can now relate to. They were beaten by the Sankofa Freedom Academy Warriors 64-37 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Dragon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Warriors are ranked 144th).

Despite the defeat, Freire Charter had strong showings from Jabriel White, who posted ten points, and Zahmir Green, who earned nine points.

Leading Sankofa Freedom Academy to victory were Nafis Dubose and Asim Hardy. Dubose went 6-for-10 on his way to 18 points and four steals, while Hardy almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine assists. Nasir Brown was another key player, putting up eight points.

Freire Charter now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Sankofa Freedom Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-9.

Freire Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sankofa Freedom Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 65-41 win against Mastery Charter North - Pickett on the 11th.
