Hillcrest extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-16. They lost 9-3 to the West Jordan Jaguars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 on Monday.
Hillcrest got a good showing from Marcus Bass, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Bass hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April.

At the plate, Boston Carrell made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Hillcrest: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-15 otherwise.
As for West Jordan, the victory (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 17-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games.
On West Jordan's side, Austin Kesler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. What's more, Kesler posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brock Litchfield, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bryn Gibson, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
While Hillcrest had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
