Basketball Recap: Shaker Heights Drops Highest Score of Season Against Euclid

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shaker Heights). They came out on top against the Euclid Panthers by a score of 83-75 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Red Raiders: when they faced off against the Panthers back in January, they had to take a 81-56 loss.

Mek Black was the offensive standout of the game as he posted 14 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Quinn Coggins, who had 12 points and six rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Euclid lost, don't look at Thai Duncan. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine boards. The contest was Duncan's third in a row with at least 21 points. Kye Owens was another key player, putting up 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Shaker Heights is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Euclid, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shaker Heights will head out to take on St. Vincent-St. Mary at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Euclid, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Panthers take on the Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
