Basketball Recap: Emporia Comes Up Short

If Emporia was feeling good fresh off their 49-21 takedown of Junction City last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Emporia Spartans took a blow against the Hayden Wildcats on Friday, falling 66-25. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Emporia's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11-2. As for Hayden, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-1.

Looking ahead, Emporia will be playing in front of their home fans against Washburn Rural on Tuesday. Washburn Rural knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Emporia likes a good challenge. As for Hayden, they will head out to face off against Manhattan on Tuesday.
