Baseball Recap: Grassfield Victorious

Grassfield proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by six) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Croatan Cougars 3-1.

Grassfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Croatan, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grassfield will welcome Granby at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Comets have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Croatan, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Wilmington Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least ten runs in their last five contests.
