Softball Recap: Vassar Comes Up Short

Vassar extended their losing streak to 11 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-11. They came up short against the Memphis Yellowjackets, falling 12-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vulcans of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Memphis, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4. Considering they have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Memphis' part, they got a massive performance out of Ellycia LaFontaine, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. LaFontaine is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Bobcean, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

While Vassar had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
