Softball Game Preview: Hunter Wolverines vs. Green Canyon Wolves

The Hunter Wolverines are taking a road trip to challenge the Green Canyon Wolves at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hunter has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Jordan hit Hunter with a seven-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolverines lost 15-5 to the Jaguars. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Hunter saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was SYDNI MILLER, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 29 runs the game before, Green Canyon was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against Bear River, falling 12-2.

Bailey Taylor made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Green Canyon has also been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Hunter, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hunter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .365. However, it's not like Green Canyon struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Hunter skirted past Green Canyon 6-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
