Baseball Game Preview: Weiser Wolverines vs. Parma Panthers

The Weiser Wolverines will face off against the Parma Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Weiser fell victim to Fruitland and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grizzlies. The Wolverines haven't had much luck with the Grizzlies recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Weiser got a good showing from Brody Bittick, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Bittick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Weiser saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaden ?KJ' LaChapelle, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Parma, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Marsing 3-2. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kaden Cole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up seven Ks. Parma is 2-1 when Cole allows one or fewer hits, but 4-9 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Rommie Lewis III was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Matthew Van Tuyl also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Weiser's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Parma, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.

Weiser came out on top in a nail-biter against Parma when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
