Softball Recap: Wayne Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Wayne had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against the Ripley Vikings by a score of 10-5. That's more bragging rights for the Pioneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Bristol Tiller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Tiller was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maddie Dillon, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexa Bishop, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Wayne hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive games.

Wayne's record now sits at 6-3. As for Ripley, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Wayne will venture away from home to challenge Spring Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ripley, they will host Oak Hill at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Devils have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season.
